The art I create is relatively new and reflective of the times in which we live. Branded art, or art-as-advertising, is done for businesses to enhance and sell their identity. It resides at the intersection of the art and business worlds. Artists are thought influencers, with their creative expression having the potential to affect behavior through visual communication. Much of what we are taught at the Penny Stamps School of Art and Design emphasizes art’s cultural value, but there is financial value as well. As a Business Minor at the Ross School of Business, I am learning how to develop marketing campaigns, how to utilize media outlets, segment markets and target specific customers, and how to analyze competitors.
